The Basics

What Is In-Home ABA Therapy?

In-home ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) therapy is one-on-one, structured skill-building delivered inside your family's own home instead of a clinic. A trained ABA therapist works directly with your child on communication, social interaction, play, and daily living skills — using your real routines (mealtime, getting dressed, bedtime) as the backdrop for learning, so skills transfer naturally instead of staying stuck in a clinic room.

Right Fit?

Is In-Home Therapy Right for Your Child?

In-home ABA therapy tends to be the right fit when:

Your child is a toddler or young child newly diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

They learn best in a familiar, low-distraction environment rather than a clinical setting.

You want therapy built around your actual daily routine instead of a fixed clinic schedule.

Goals involve daily living skills — toileting, dressing, mealtime — easiest to teach where they happen.

You're on a clinic waitlist in Ontario and want to start building skills sooner rather than later.

Behind the Scenes

How We Deliver It

Therapist + BCBA, working together

Sessions are delivered by a trained ABA therapist — the same person your child sees week after week. Behind them, your child's program is designed, reviewed, and adjusted by our BCBA, who sets goals, checks the data after every session, and holds regular supervision touchpoints. You always know who's doing the hands-on work and who's making the clinical calls.

What a session actually looks like

A typical session blends structured teaching with natural play — requesting preferred items during snack time, practising turn-taking with a favourite toy, or breaking down handwashing into teachable pieces. Every session is logged, so nothing is left to memory. Parents are welcome to observe or step in; this isn't therapy that happens at your family, it happens with your family.

How we track & report progress

Every session generates data — what was targeted, how many chances your child had to practise, how they responded. Your BCBA reviews it to decide what stays and what changes next, rather than running the same plan for months. You get regular, plain-language updates — not just a chart full of numbers — so you always know what's working, what isn't, and why the plan is shifting.

Flexible Scheduling

Including evenings and weekends, built around your family's actual week — not a clinic calendar.

Funding Your Child's Program

Most Ontario families use a mix of the Ontario Autism Program (OAP), private extended health benefits, and out-of-pocket payment for in-home ABA. We help you understand what your funding covers and how to apply it — read our full Ontario Autism Program guide, or combine in-home sessions with parent coaching, ABA at daycare, or an early intervention program. We'll tell you honestly which setting fits best after your assessment.

Good Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

In-home therapy happens in your child's actual environment, so skills are practised where they'll be used day to day. Clinic-based programs offer more structured peer interaction, which can be a better fit for some very young children starting intensive early intervention.

A trained ABA therapist delivers your sessions. Your child's program is designed and supervised by our BCBA, who reviews progress data regularly and adjusts goals as your child grows.

It depends on your child's assessment results and goals — we'll give you a specific, honest number after assessment, not before it.

Yes. Many families mix in-home sessions with ABA therapy at daycare or virtual ABA sessions depending on what fits their week and their child's specific goals.

An autism diagnosis is typically required for OAP funding, but we're happy to discuss your situation on a free consultation call even if you're still early in that process.
