Getting a Diagnosis in Waterloo Region

Kitchener sits within Waterloo Region, where KidsAbility Centre for Child Development is the designated Ontario Autism Program diagnostic hub, assessing children from Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Wellington County. It's a well-established organization, but demand across the region means assessment and service waitlists are common — which is exactly the gap private, in-home therapy is built to fill.

A fast-growing tech hub, still waiting on services: Kitchener has built a national reputation as part of Canada's “Silicon Valley North,” home to a growing tech sector alongside its traditional manufacturing base. That growth hasn't been matched by growth in publicly funded autism services. Many working families find themselves managing demanding jobs while waiting months for a spot to open up. In-home therapy doesn't require you to wait: your child's therapist comes to you on a schedule that can work around long hours or shift work.

Why Start Privately?

Support While You Wait

Kitchener families often choose private in-home therapy because:

Therapy can begin in weeks rather than waiting months for a regional spot to open.

Private ABA can complement support through KidsAbility and the Ontario Autism Program.

Flexible scheduling can fit demanding tech-sector hours or manufacturing shift work.

Sessions happen at home in the neighbourhood and routines your child already knows.

Behind the Scenes

How We Deliver It

Certified therapist + BCBA oversight

A certified ABA therapist delivers your child's sessions in person, building real rapport over time. Behind that therapist, our BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) designs the program from a direct assessment, sets specific goals, and reviews progress on an ongoing basis. Supervision is frequently virtual, keeping oversight tight without adding extra visits to your week.

What a session looks like

Whether you're in a detached home near Doon or a townhouse closer to Forest Heights, your therapist works with the space and routine you already have — no dedicated therapy room required. Morning routines before daycare, dinner-table communication practice, and weekend play can all become part of your child's goals. Every session is logged, so you see exactly what was targeted and how your child responded.
